ATP Tournament – What Is It?
ATP tournament or ATP tour is an annual professional men’s tennis tournament (including 2023) that takes place globally. The Association of Tennis Professionals organizes the ATP tour. The ATP tour comprises four major tournaments: the Grand slam, ATP tour masters 1000, ATP 500, and ATP 250. The International Tennis Federation supervises these tournaments. ATP ranks the elite players based on their performance throughout the season. At the end of the season, the top 8 elite players compete with each other in the ATP world tour finals.

But have you wondered what Grand Slam means? The term “Grand Slam” is a term that refers to the collection of four tennis tournaments. As said above, the tennis season takes place between January and November and comprises 4 major tournaments. If a tennis player wins all the tournaments in that season, then that tennis player has won the title “Grand Slam.” But what if a player won all four tournaments, not in the same season (same year) but in their career? Then that tennis player gets the “Career Grand Slam.”

ATP Ranking Points in Grand Slam:
The four major tournaments are considered the highest-ranking tournaments in the ATP tennis season. ATP gives points to players as the Grand slam winner gets 2000 points, and the runner-up in that season gets 1200 points. You can divide these points as
- ATP Masters 1000 – Earns 1000 points for winners.
- ATP 500 – Earns 500 points for winners.
- ATP 250 – Earns 250 points for winners.

Australian Open:
Started in 1986, being held at Melbourne Park, Australia considered the premier league, next to Wimbledon in the Grand Slam tournaments. The stadium can accommodate up to 14,800 spectators.
